Accommodation    Founded in 1934. A town from 1954. The town of regional authority (Zavolzhsky region, Ivanovskaya district). The center of Zavolzhsky region. The town was called Zavolzhie in 1934 - 1954.
    Situated on the left bank of the Volga (pier) in front of the town of Kineshma, 4 km from the railway station, 113 km North-East from Ivanovo.
    In the middle of the 19 century cotton mill and spinning mill (later fibro mill) were built on the territory of the modern town, in 1871 a sulphate plant (one of the oldest chemical enterprises in Russia) was built. In 1934 the settlement of Zavolzhie was formed out of these populated areas of the enterprises.
    Food industry enterprises, timber an saw mills (wood, materials for sewing). Flax and cereals are grown in Zavolzhsky region. Mainly cattle is bred. There are natural resources of non- metallic building materials.
